Join everyone in this 24 hour, continuous chain of reading aloud. It's fun to take part, and it's fun to watch and listen.
Prizes will be awarded to those who raise over $50 (book plates), over $100 (the book, "Winter Dance," by Gary Paulsen), and the top winner will get one night and four waterpark passes at The Tundra Lodge. We appreciate everyone who reads and brings in the minimum $20 donation; all will get a gift bag for participating!
(Want to take part, but won't be available that weekend? You can donate to the Marathon, and we'll use one of our "pinch hitters" to do the 15 minutes of reading for you.)
Between 6 and 8 pm, our regular First Saturday Performance will combine with the Marathon and present "Music Literature" and poetry or readings accompanied by instruments. Your usual "$5 at the door" donation will go toward the Marathon.
A refreshment table with free Starbucks Coffee will be available throughout the event as well as a free "Leave-a-Book / Take-a-Book," table, and a book signing table where you can meet and talk with local authors. Literacy Green Bay and One Book - One Community will have information booths open for you to learn about the good things they do.
This Marathon for Literature is HUGE for tAG. It will help keep the lights on and allow us to continue our mission to make the visual, performing and literary arts accessible and affordable to all. Think about it...just 15 minutes of reading your favorite book and just $20 to benefit the ARTgarage, Literacy Green Bay, and three area shelters.
